Peripheral vision (also known as ‘side vision’) is the ability to see objects and movement outside of the direct line of vision. The areas of the retina responsible for peripheral vision are also responsible for night vision and low-light vision. At Bass Lake Family Eye Care, we perform visual field testing during every comprehensive exam. Visual field testing maps out your peripheral vision and can be an early indication of any loss of vision. A loss of peripheral vision can indicate glaucoma, cataracts, vascular problems, or retinal disease.
